Salvador Villafaña also known as SalvieDaBawdy is an artist from Brooklyn, New York. Villafaña who has found his own definition of Dembow by blending elements of his Dominican roots, with sexual liberation and life as a New Yorker, describes a world without music as a sin.

Growing up in Brooklyn, fed Salvie’s aspirations for music - it made his world spin. Walking down a street to neighbors playing music in a bodega, or hearing a mix of Spanish and English is what he considers the start of his relationship with music. Though it wasn’t until the summer of 2019 that he recorded his first two tracks, Indecisive and Cruel Summer, he’s been in it since then. Following up during the pandemic with his third single, FUMAR was his way of finding his roots.

Villafaña thanks musical influences Tokischa, and El Alfa for their impact on the way he views the journey. Garnering inspiration from artists that spoke his language and showed up as their authentic selves solidified his love for where he comes from.

As an artist, Salvie uses his platform to reclaim the homophobic origin that exists around Debow as a genre. Working around his desire to help others feel empowered, he’s cultivated his own unique brand of sexy, honest music that walks the fine line between reggaeton and dancehall rhythm.

It’s his turn to make turns and rounds in the music industry. He’s ready for what’s to come.
